課程概述 |
To develop academic writing skills, students will analyze texts written for a variety of different purposes, learn about linguistic features of academic genres, work on genre-oriented tasks, and complete writing assignments. Students will learn about issues such as organization (e.g., general-specific/specific-general), style (e.g., formality/informality), coherence and cohesion, stance-taking, and plagiarism (paraphrasing/citation practice). In addition to understanding how communicative purposes shape academic argumentation, students will learn how to use evaluative language to formulate a voice in writing. This course addresses a number of essential questions: How is academic writing seen as a dialogue between writer and reader? How do we craft an argument in a persuasive way? |
